How's the weather today?

Took this pic this morning minutes before the howling winds brought the rain. This rain wasn't as heavy as the one couple nights back. It was so heavy then that I had the SMS flood alert.
Thank you, NEA, for the alerts.

Have a blessed day!

Earth Hour 2012

What were you doing between 8.30pm and 9.30pm today?

I took some pics of my neighbourhood. Not much difference, don't you think?

Have a blessed evening!

True colours

I bought another Finepix. I'm used to mine so I decided to continue with another. Add the seller's eagerness to sell the camera to me by throwing in additional battery and 8GB card on top of the existing freebie of 8GB card, case and tripod (which I swapped for screen protector).
And so, there are pictures :
Remember the picture I took yesterday? These are what the 'true' colours are. It's a huge messenger that can fit A4 size files. Stress points have been reinforced by request so that it can accommodate a Macbook White though there is no interfacing. The owner will have to use a Macbook sleeve but otherwise, this is one tough bag with lots of stiff navy denim and baby blue canvas. The flap and internal large pocket are made from laminated cotton which reminds me of oilcloth. Fully-lined pockets inside with a pocket for the PSP and 2 pen pockets per request out of the 6 -7 pockets inside. I can't remember :-(

Just for the record, I'm adding this other pic for comparison with earlier versions in the blog. Which camera do you think is better?
Have a blessed day!

My heart is heavy

This is not some special effect that I'm using to create this picture. My camera has been with me for a while now. I can't even remember when I bought it. I think, 6-7 years ago or more? Since then it's been overseas, dropped, got caught in the rain and still it served me. It started showing some signs a few weeks ago when it didn't want to boot but I got round it by removing the battery and resetting it. Else I used the playback button to switch on the camera then switched to photo-taking mode.

So, for a while until I get a new camera, there won't be any more pictures.

Apple of my eye

Look what the delivery man just brought...apples!
10kg of Korean fuji apples that smell so great! There are 10 bags in this carton with 6 in each bag so that means 60 apples...woohoo! Bought these at a deep discount using a Groupon :-)

Good news and bad news

Bad news first - my camera's out of action for a week. I accidentally left my only memory card in a friend's laptop. I could use the camera's onboard memory to take a few pics but I think I'll focus my time on other things...which leads me to

Good news - come 29 February 2012 (Singapore time), we're having a 1 day sale with a 25% storewide on checkout price at both Tobias' Shoppe and Tiffany's Shoppe. More details nearer the date. Check out both shoppes in the meantime. More stuff will be added :-)

Have a blessed  evening!

I had a visitor

We live near a nature park and that's why we get 'visitors' once in a while that drop by and brighten our day just a bit more. Look what flew in this morning! Pretty little thing that I think DD will like 'cos it's green, LOL!

Have a blessed day!

My treat

Made this for myself last night. On a whim again :-) I wanted something small with a wrist strap, for keeping the cash at the KKH bazaar. I'm not a waistpouch person though I might consider a cross-body sling bag the next round. This one has a pocket for Daffy and cards and a zippered compartment for the cash. A flap keeps everything from falling out. I didn't use batting, only light interfacing but it's quite sturdy and can stand on its own. I riveted the strap again. I'm thinking of riveting straps from now. I like that it's a simple design, functional and easy to apply.

Thank you all who dropped by the Little Statement stall at the KKH bazaar today. We had a wonderful time :-)

Have a blessed day!

Cup runneth over

Look what happened just now! The rain started after 4 with a slight drizzle that quickly progressed to a thunder storm. We were out when it started and only put the basin to collect the water after 5. Less than 2 hours later, see this!
There are other markings on the basin. Highest level before today was on 18 September 2011. I don't know today's level, only know that it overflowed.

Have a blessed rainy day...and catch the rainbow before it fades away :-)

Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year!
This is a simple pouch with a squared off corner base. I've made such in the past but decided to try a new method of sewing to see if the finish can be improved, and I'm happy to say, this looks better than the past ones. I like it that it's less cumbersome to sew, even for the top-stitching which you can't quite see but it's there on the lining. Estimation of size is easier though I made this on the fly with no intention of putting anything inside.  One side is also less bulky. DD has claimed this after putting resin snaps on. Fabrics were chosen for the Chinese New Year mood :-)

May you be blessed with new insights and opportunities to try something new. May you also be blessed with an abundance of quality family time, happening fellowship and amazing discoveries. Good health and lots of laughter always.

Have a blessed day!
ps: I seek your patience 'cos I'll be taking a break for a few days. Your orders will be coming along very soon. I'll also be at KKH next Thursday. See you there!

Announcing...

DD now has her own shop at Tiffany's Shoppe.
T'was meant to be for handmade notebooks only till we realized that her shop is the 1000th shop in www.ownashop.com and thus was blessed with lots of freebies like larger shop space for a year!
So, readymade stuff from Bunny Bags will now ride upon this. It's a user-friendly marketplace. Try it out today?
Have a blessed school night!

Change is in the air!

I like things of old. Traditional food, songs of the 60s and 70s and someone even called me a granny 'cos I knit. Whatever, LOL! Despite this, new is good too. Newness brings hope and sometimes a wariness that keeps me from being complacent in my comfort zone.
I'm rambling.
Point is, I've decided to make some changes

These shoppes will sell stuff that we craft when inspiration strikes. I don't think I'll go Etsy or Artfire type as yet to sell these. I'll still take customization requests so please email me :-)
Lastly, I want to thank you for dropping by, my customers and other supporters. Couldn't have made it this far without you.
Have a wonderful year ahead! May your resolutions be fulfilled and your days be showered with blessing.

Waiting patiently

I need to wait for DS and DD this afternoon. They'll be attending TeenXcite and then we'll be attending the next service 'cos we'll be witnessing a friend's baptism. I could go to the library to read since I've not had much time to read recently but I packed this box of stuff to sew just in case the sewing itch starts. I pack such boxes to the pool sometimes. Nothing quite so relaxing as sewing blind stitches and finishing off an item.
The items in today's box are meant for Tobias' Shoppe. I also included the plastic packaging and tag besides the needle, thread (bobbin) and thread cutter, buried beneath all these.
Aside, DD cooked lunch for us all by herself today :-)
Have a blessed day!

Call to Me

tissue zipper (15Dec2011)It’s been a while since I made tissue zipper pouches, basically the normal zipper pouches with a tissue holder at the side. It’s been even longer since I’ve had a request to applique scripture verses.

I’m wondering whether to print more verses. In Proverbs 7 we are told to keep His words and store up His commands within us.

So…

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”                     ~ Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)

May you be blessed with this today!

Have a blessed day!

Christmas mood

tree (11Nov2011)

I like Christmas. It’s a time for family and friends, fun and laughter, lots of food. It’s a time to reflect on the year, to be thankful for everything that has happened. It’s also a time to prepare for the new year.

DD’s looking forward to honey baked ham. I think we’ll have glazed honey pork ribs too. DS would prefer the ribs. I used to like roast beef but it wasn’t easy getting the meat just right.

Maybe we’ll catch the lights at Orchard road this year on the front seat of a double deck, like we planned for years. We’ll go kettling, for sure. DS’ looking forward to the free flow sugared and carbonated drinks with his hot dog.

Made this on a whim. It’s pretty simple and you can make it too. Have fun!

Sew 2 triangles with interfacing on the inside. I used the thickest interfacing I had so this is sturdy and can stand on its own. Place 1 triangle on top of the other, flat sides together and sew down the middle. That way, it’ll become a 4-part tree. Sew on some buttons and thread some beads for the garland. I added a string at the top so I can hang this. DD has claimed this though.

Have a blessed Christmas :-)!

Why Pray?

Extracted from www.parentingbydesign.com

James 4:2: ... you do not have because you do not ask (NKJV).

The number one tool in parenting is prayer. It should be your go-to response whenever you feel angry, frustrated, tense, confused, or you aren't quite sure what to do. But, have you ever wondered why? If God already knows what we need, why doesn't He just provide it and let us move on with our day?

Obviously, one reason for prayer is because God has commanded it; "you do not have because you do not ask". In addition, it is a unique opportunity to sort through life's issues with the Author of life. Prayer reminds us that God is in control and helps put our parental role in the proper perspective. When we pray that our will be aligned with His, He can work in our hearts to give us a clearer understanding of what His will is. Prayer is not just a theological exercise; it is an opportunity to talk directly to our Heavenly Father. What a privilege and blessing!

Take advantage of your opportunity to talk to your Father in prayer.

A year ago, I sold my first bag. It was a sling bag requested by a church friend who saw what DD was carrying and wanted a similar one. Since then, I’ve made

  • totes – reversible, A4, diaper bags, library bags, lunch bags, CNY mandarin orange carriers
  • pouches – with zips/snaps, large enough for computer notebook, small enough for earphones, pencil cases, coin purses, flat / boxy / triangular, almost waterproof or otherwise
  • pet beds and doggy bowtie
  • kisslock purses
  • handphone sleeves
  • baby tummy wraps, coasters, tablecloths, cot bedsheets and key pouch
  • tissue cases – vanilla ones or with zips
  • slings – mini ones for toddlers, larger ones for adults
  • backpacks – mini ones for toddlers, largest one for travel
  • drawstrings bags – mini ones for toddlers, largest one for travel
  • notebook covers, card case covers
  • books – hardcovers, quilted covers, cahiers, journals

I’d also raised funds through your efforts for Japan Earthquake and Thailand floods. Something that I never thought I could do.

Thank you, God, for making all these possible.

Thank you, my family, friends and supporters.

Have a blessed day!

ps: I wanted to put up almost the whole year in pics but that would be heavy-duty download and besides, I got a bit tired of formatting each pic, LOL! Check out the rest of the blog or facebook for more pics.
