Giveaway!

Christmas 2012 giveaway!

Remember this drawstring bag from the tutorial? This can be yours along with other handmade items in your choice of colour. I'm thinking books, magnets, hair ties, pouch, bookmark, scrunchy...etc. It'll be the most I've given away to date :-)

What you'll have to do by 24Nov 8pm is to SHARE this pic on Facebook and leave a COMMENT as to what colour items you'd like if you win this. I'll try to best match :-)

Have a blessed day!

ps: If you don't have a Facebook account, you're welcome to leave a comment here instead.

What happened to your magnets?

LOL! This was what a friend asked when I told her I'm making scrunchies now.
DD and I were at West Mall when we saw kiddie scrunchies going at S$3.90/pair and I commented that I could match that price and use better fabrics.
My first try was a failure. It didn't make it to the blog.
My subsequent ones were a struggle. This is because I want to have nice clean seams and so wriggling a piece of narrow fabric around and twisting it to the right position wasn't easy. :-(
Till I found an easy way out. Sigh, it's so simple. Well, I could have used the bodkin.
Anway, these became easy to make. I made them while watching X-men Last Stand. It's the nth time I'm watching so I could miss some parts to go sew and return to flip the scrunchies etc.
DD likes the mini ones. Which type do you prefer?

Have a blessed day!

ps: To answer the initial question, well, magnets are still around. I just don't take pics of everything I make. I'm also waiting for organza bags to arrive so I can pack them.

New life

I've lots of scraps lying around at home, be it yarn or fabric or beads and such. I think I've more than a oven-sized box full of fabric scraps that I decided that 'one day' I'll sift through. One day :-)
Until then, I found these fabric scraps and yarn. I can't remember what I used the variegated one for but the pale blue one was a gift from a church friend. The beads, err, can't remember.
Made a coaster from 4 square linen scraps. The patterned one was leftover from the curved handles of the reversible tote. I had a hard time poking the crochet needle through until I starting using the awl. Was still difficult to pull through though. I remember I made a handkerchief when I was in Primary 4. Yup, way back :-)
Another scrunchie. Super big one that I'm not using. It's with Hilly, DD's hippo. Round it's big mouth. LOL! It's so large partially 'cos I wanted to finish using a small amount of gift yarn. Found these beads and they go really well together. I wasn't sure if the yarn would thread through but it was OK. Just used a needle and thread and voila! Should have threaded more though 'cos I ended up with half a scrunchie with beads and half without. LOL!

One day I'll go sift through the other scraps and give them new lives. One day ...

Have a blessed day.

Something different, for a change

I took a break from making bags and purses and made these instead. Lots of fun too :-)
This is an organiser, for lack of a better word to describe it. Hung on a normal wire hanger with lots of pockets in many sizes. For keeping those smaller items within reach when drawers are too deep. I made all the pockets flat but I think if I make another one I'll have pockets with a gusset.

Scrunchies. Made the first one from 2 pieces of fabric that were too cool to put in the recycling bag. Made the second one 'cos my fingers were itching with nothing to do while watching TV. No particular pattern there, just 1dc and 1ch throughout to cover the elastic so there'll be ruffles.

Have a blessed day!
