All covered up

book cover (22Nov2011)Three quilted book covers for this Friday’s bookbinding class.

Princess print is from Timeless Treasures, doggy one from Makower. I can’t find the selvedge for the kitty in the cinema print :-(.

Thing is, the first thing I do when I get a piece of fabric is to cut off the selvedge. Be it a fat quarter or few yards long. I salvage selvedges to make one-of-a-kind items. :-)

Anyway, this is a quick post ‘cos I have other covers to rush out for this Friday’s class.

Have a blessed evening!

book cover (22Nov2011a)Update: another 4 covers almost done. Will do the metal snaps tomorrow….off to play Spiral Knights with DS and DD now.

Good evening!

DS' New Notebook Cover

DS likes this fighter jet twill that he chose from Spotlight. He already has a laundry bag made from this. The macbook sleeve is, well, work in progress, along with the backpack. I did manage to finish this notebook cover though. His requests include a pocket for his origami paper and the elastic.

Do you doodle?

DD likes to journal. More during the holidays when there are lots of activities, less during term time. Sometimes she even brings her journal along with her wherever she goes. I've even seen tickets stubs and receipts stuck inside some pages before.
What memories would you like to keep?
This is a long overdue request 'cos I was experimenting ways to sew this notebook cover with medium weight oxford cotton and full lining and yet without bulky seams. Also, I did away with the snaps 'cos I didn't like the thought of a picture drawn on the notebook being distorted 'cos of the snap button. Included a small pocket for all the ticket stubs and receipts. A5 size notebook with no lines included, else, what's a cover for? LOL!
Have a blessed day!

Prototype: notebook cover

Yet another prototype of the notebook cover. I'm trying various ways 'cos I'm still not happy with the result. This is quite ok for a minimalist kind of look. What do you think?
