Bluish green or greenish blue?

More wristlets for Tiffany's Shoppe.
I cut these out more than a month ago, maybe 2 months. They've been lying in the sewing basket for a while, waiting for the sewing bug to bite. They're from a series that I bought from US, made from super combed cotton that's grown in US. I added just a bit of batting to this so that the smoothness and the puffiness of the batting makes this a fine little pillow, LOL!

Lots more along the way and yes, I'll get back to orders soon. Sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience!

Get these and more at 25% off  at Tiffany's Shoppe tomorrow only. Ditto Tobias' Shoppe.

I think I have a giraffe's neck

Hong Kong is so near, yet so far. I say this because my orders of antique brass double cap rivets have yet to arrive though I placed the order early this month. Korea's farther yet it takes less than a week. Even US shipments from the Borderlinx warehouse takes less than a week. I've been checking and checking the mailbox but *sigh* no rivets.
These are tissue zipper pouches. Japanese and Korean linen exterior machine quilted for added interest. The tea-coloured ones look like linen too, but are made from cotton. I used YKK 12cm metal zips for these and I think I'll use in future vs the 5" zips 'cos these are a better fit. Not only that, these zips have interchangeable zipper pulls so I can attach zipper pulls that look like charms. Can you tell the 4 different types that I have?

The thing is, these are all lacking the rivets on the straps. I can sew but the rivet makes it a more polished look, no? Let's see how long the rivets will take to come. I hope they come this week before I get a sore neck from looking out for them for so long.

Have a blessed day!

I've been busy, how about you?

Yup, the camera's back in action. I wasn't lazing around either. Been working on these....
brightly-coloured wristlets. More in the pipeline!

Three clutches / laptop bags for the fun of it. I enjoyed the freehand quilted. Almost everything I do is freehand anyway, LOL, but it was fun trying to sew uniform lines. These have extra thick batting that I was quilting on. DD used a similar for school and her friends thought she brought a laptop to school. That was what gave me the idea. Well, whether you use it for books / files / laptop / tablet or even a pillow, I hope you like it.

Listed all of these in Tiffany's Shoppe.

Good news and bad news

Bad news first - my camera's out of action for a week. I accidentally left my only memory card in a friend's laptop. I could use the camera's onboard memory to take a few pics but I think I'll focus my time on other things...which leads me to

Good news - come 29 February 2012 (Singapore time), we're having a 1 day sale with a 25% storewide on checkout price at both Tobias' Shoppe and Tiffany's Shoppe. More details nearer the date. Check out both shoppes in the meantime. More stuff will be added :-)

Have a blessed  evening!

Pretty in pink

What's your favourite colour? DS' red, DD's green. My three nieces like pink, purple and blue. I like yellow. I think I read somewhere that blue is the most liked colour.

Anyway, these 2 are pink. Bit of overload on pink, don't you think? I opted out of total pink pages. What you see are just the signature cover pages. It's white inside...*phew*, LOL! 7-hole coptic bound hardcover journals made from acid-free papers.

Have a blessed day!

Purple Pastels

DS thought I bought these *grin*!

I have this collection of papers of pinks and purples that are so pretty. Initially I thought the purple hearts in front would be too plain but it turned out just right. Paired with the flowers, the combination just looks so delicate. I don't have thick plain purple paper for the inside of the covers so I just decided to use the back paper for the front cover and vice versa. DD suggested rounding the corners which I think gives it a more brought-together look altogether. Also, this time, I thought I would take the easy way out and wire-bind them but I've yet to master the hole-punching and that's why, if you see closely, one book has 11 holes while the other has 10, LOL!

I can't decide what to do today....sew or bind. Maybe I'll do both :-)

Have a blessed day!
ps: I've not forgotten your orders, don't worry. I just like to optimize the inspiration and mood when it comes and do something different. Thanks for your patience!

First two

These are the first two books of this year, I think. It's been a long while since I've made a hardcover journal and this time I decided to have mismatched covers. Well, almost. I have another 3 on the way so you might see what I mean when I post the pics. I especially like the blue one. The blue sky contrasts with the dark blue denim print of the back cover. I thinking that I like the back cover more, LOL!

Made with acid free papers (except the ladybug paper). White papers are from sustainable forests. 192 pages, 6 signatures, 7-hole, coptic bound.

Have a blessed day!

I had a visitor

We live near a nature park and that's why we get 'visitors' once in a while that drop by and brighten our day just a bit more. Look what flew in this morning! Pretty little thing that I think DD will like 'cos it's green, LOL!

Have a blessed day!

What were you doing at 6am today?

What time do you wake up? The alarm on my phone wakes me up earlier than the time I set because my phone has gained time over the past few months. I now wake up 7 mins earlier :-)
This morning, I woke up with this idea in my head. I just grabbed 'remnant' straps that I had on my sewing table, metal snaps and a rivet. Easy peasy design which took me a while because (1) I couldn't find the metal snap caps and (2) the straps were too thick and I spent more time pushing the spikes through than banging the metal pieces together.

I took DS' earpiece to 'model' my cable organizer and asked for their opinions. DS looked up from the newspaper and said 'OK'. His 'OK' runs the gamut from 'acceptable' to 'any answer as long as there's an answer', which is basically no answer to me. DD piped in with a 'can I have that in green?' *roll eyes*

Anyway, this was a quick fun thing to do and I'm off to the rest of a wonderful day!

Have a blessed day too :-)

Cuteness

Made these tissue zipper pouches. Tissue case on one side and zippered compartment at the top. These are slightly smaller than those I've made in the past and just the right size for a single pack of tissue. Added these cute zipper pulls too. Antique brass hardware all round. What's left is just the straps and I'm just waiting for the rivets to arrive. You can't see from this pic but I've quilted the other side and put a 'handmade' label. Maybe I'll take another pic of these with the straps when they're done but I just like the zipper pulls. Kawaii, desune?

Have a blessed weekend!

Brights vs florals vs neutrals

I can't decide which type I like best, brights, florals or neutrals. There are also polka dots and cartoon/character designs and such. So many varieties out there, so tempting :-) Ditto that for purse hardware too. I'm using shiny silver and antique brass.

All of these are zipper pouches for hand-sewing to close the gap where I turn it proper way out after sewing. Won't say more....lots to sew today :-)

Have a blessed weekend!

Do you like red bean zhang?

I had a red bean zhang craving some time back. The zhang (dumpling) with whole red beans mixed into the rice with meat / mushroom in the middle. It was so bad that my friend (thank you, dear sweet soul!) bought some from Thomson and brought it all the way here for me. All gone in a flash :-) These days, I eat zhang less often. Usually off season so I don't have to pay the inflated price.

Bought this zhang at a bakery. Odd place to buy one but I couldn't decide what to eat and saw this. It's a nonya zhang, ie, it has sweetened minced meat in the middle. Not really nice so I won't tell you where I got it from, LOL!

Made my own fabric version when I got home. Up for swap with anyone who has a red bean zhang!

Have a blessed day :-)

How big is your phone?

In this day and age, the phones are getting larger. What a far cry from the time when I was using my trusty Nokia e61i which was ahead of its time. It was larger than most candy bars or clamshells. Thick too, that some would laugh when I put it to my ear and use it like a super wide candy bar. Well, the phones these days are much larger :-)

Made from a suede-like material and lined with microfibre. Velcro closure 'cos no magnets. Belt loop at the back.

Have a blessed day!

Unravel this

I've had this yarn for years. It's finer than my usual yarn of 6/8 ply on size 4 needles. This is like, 4 ply, like a sock yarn but without the elasticity though I guess ribbing would help with that. I tried to knit something out of it 2 skeins at a time, doubled up, thinking that it'd be ok. Wasn't, so I unravelled everything and wound them into a single tight ball.

A thing about 2 about yarn, they have this twist about them. Two twists, rather. One within the ply and the other to hold the plies together. It's because of these twists that I had a hard time unraveling the yarn, splitting the one ball into 2 and then winding each up individually, while untwisting both yarns at the same time. And I had 2 balls.

So, with some Korean drama to take the boredom out, I finally split them into 4, soaked them in a bit of water and soap and voila! Good as new :-) Now I just have to wait for the sun to come out again and dry them thoroughly before I can finish the 2nd half of the throw.

Have a blessed weekend!

WIPs

These are the WIPs that I'm packing for tomorrow afternoon to sew at the pool while I wait for DD as she goes for her swimming lesson. I might include some yoyos but these are reversible drawstring bags and wristlets. I'll have many brightly coloured wristlets coming up. I'm happy that I managed to find matching zips :-)  I also put my potpourri sachet in so the FOs will smell nicer.

Have a blessed weekend!

Heads I like this, tails I like this too!

I don't usually buy fat quarter bundles but I like the way they're packaged in coordinating colours or prints. Almost foolproof, no? :-)

This reversible drawstring bag was made from 3 different prints. I had fun piecing the 2 pics together too to form 1 'bag'. I finally used this double-sided cotton ribbon but I'm wondering if a cord would be nicer? I'll try with the next bag.

Have a blessed day!

You can do this!

Did I mention that I have lots of scraps? Well, I do. Huge lots that I'm not sure when I'll want to sort them out and make something out of them. In the meantime, these were cut from scraps nearest to me. I used the top of the Campbell's can for the size. The yoyos turn out to be about 1 inch in diameter. Portable and fun sewing :-)

Have a blessed time sewing these :-)
ps: This New England Clam Chowder from Campbell's is DS' current favourite soup. I've not tried it yet. He drank both tins all by himself. Hmm, maybe he won't like it so much now, LOL!

For this Taylor Swift fan

This Cresyn headphones came with it's own drawstring bag. Pretty slick one in black in a material that feels like soft PVC. I thought it looked pretty cool, this black/white headphones in the black drawstring with a minimal Cresyn stamp in the centre of the bag but DD had other ideas. She chose this cotton/linen blend with her favourite green squirrel and paired it with a solid green cotton. It's reversible by the way, so she can have it all green if she flips it the other way out.

I like the 2-in-1 looks with one bag and I'm gonna make some more and post them in Tiffany's Shoppe :-)

Have a blessed day!
