Do you like puzzles?

This suede bracelet was made from a single piece of suede. Not 3, not more. Just one. It looked simple enough yet I struggled with it for a while. It's fun so I think I'll make more :-)

I finally started using the antique bronze rose snaps. The one that the supplier shipped only 1 part out of 4 parts of each snap and had to re-ship, LOL!

Dizzying stripes

Two denim totes for DD and me. DS doesn't like stripes.

These are large enough to put A4 files in and with the many pockets (2 large ones in front, 2 large ones back, panel inside), we can carry many stuff around. DD prefer to carry hers without the detachable strap. I prefer mine attached 'cos sometimes I use the over the shoulder straps, sometimes I use the longer one.

I think I'll make more of these if I can find the right thick fabric - canvas or denim. I wonder if oxford will work as well?

Some other design considerations:

flap covers for the outside pockets with the snaps on the flaps

swivel hook on the inside to snap on key rings

zipper pocket

shorter handles for handcarry

zipper closure for main body

Beware of imitations!

I first saw something like this months ago. Can't remember where though, either on the web or at one of those Korean stationery shops. I last saw something similar at a pushcart outside NTUC Bt Merah about a week ago. It was pastel pink/white plastic with metal snaps. Whoever thought of this is surely a fun person :-)

This is my version, no copyright infringement intended. Made from green quilting fabric from Australia and resin snaps. I interfaced it for a bit of structure. DD's new samosa :-)

Big prints

I normally shy away from big floral prints but this Kono Sanae canvas was so pretty that I made a large tote out of it. Added a large patch pocket almost as big as one side and secured it with a chocolate metal snap. This large patch covers a smaller patch pocket so that it's more accessible without having to lower the strap to get at things. Another panel of pockets inside as usual. Fully lined with calico but not interfaced since it's canvas.

High heels

DS says high heels look nice but are not practical. He was referring to this pencil case when he said that. While it's huge with a large opening to be able to see your stuff clearly and retrieve them, he considers the snaps too troublesome to manipulate. DD calls this the lunchbag pencil case.

Flap's made from Wilmington's Bunny's Day Out border with linen body. Interior is fully lined with Korean import white polka dots on lime green. Two resin snaps at the corners for closure. What do you think?

Keying in

Managed to complete this before the GE2011 election results program on TV. I hope that all who get elected will deal with the key matters at hand without disparaging nor prejudice.

Made from linen and cotton and resin snaps for closure. Antique look metal key rings for 6 keys.

Sweets for my sweet

Circular candy tray with snaps at four corners to snap into a square. Put candy if you like. DD put Cherry inside. Linen exterior with resin snaps fully lined with calico.

Travelling light

When DS and DD were younger, they used to have their EZlink cards in a slip in plastic pouch with a lanyard that they carry round their neck. Most of the time it ended up being me who carried and tapped them on buses and trains. As they grew older, they started carrying more stuff like library cards, library receipts (good for Quest exchange!) and some cash.

While DS prefered a simple zippered pouch, unlined, un-interfaced (is this a boy thing?), DD likes this new purse I made for her. It has 2 slip in pockets and 1 zippered compartment for her coins. The flap seals with a resin snap. I don't like the colour of the snap but DD chose it. I think she's trying to be nice 'cos all I have are pastel colours and won't be buying anymore till I finish these snaps. So peach it is :-)
Made from AU fat quarters inside and out and bound with Korean import cotton. Lightly interfaced for that puffiness.

The snap pliers aren't here yet but it's ok, I can still proceed and make this in preparation?
