New life

I've lots of scraps lying around at home, be it yarn or fabric or beads and such. I think I've more than a oven-sized box full of fabric scraps that I decided that 'one day' I'll sift through. One day :-)
Until then, I found these fabric scraps and yarn. I can't remember what I used the variegated one for but the pale blue one was a gift from a church friend. The beads, err, can't remember.
Made a coaster from 4 square linen scraps. The patterned one was leftover from the curved handles of the reversible tote. I had a hard time poking the crochet needle through until I starting using the awl. Was still difficult to pull through though. I remember I made a handkerchief when I was in Primary 4. Yup, way back :-)
Another scrunchie. Super big one that I'm not using. It's with Hilly, DD's hippo. Round it's big mouth. LOL! It's so large partially 'cos I wanted to finish using a small amount of gift yarn. Found these beads and they go really well together. I wasn't sure if the yarn would thread through but it was OK. Just used a needle and thread and voila! Should have threaded more though 'cos I ended up with half a scrunchie with beads and half without. LOL!

One day I'll go sift through the other scraps and give them new lives. One day ...

Have a blessed day.

Oatmeal

Didn't realize that working with linen is so much fun! It coordinates well with any colour and can be embroided easily. Now I understand a bit why it's the material of choice for many zakka items.
Made this single coaster out of oatmeal linen and pink quilting cotton. One one side there are 4 mini log cabins and plain stripes on the other. I think I'll go try other colours :-)
Have a blessed day!

Coast isn't clear yet

Do you know that I have 3 orders from last year that I've not started on? I'm not proud of this but it's true. The delay is mainly my fault 'cos I can't visualize / design anything to fit the requirements. They are simple enough requests, but when the number of requirements increases with a single item, the complexity increases. I thank God that those who placed these orders with me are so patient! (One fruit of the spirit developing well there) But I shouldn't be taking advantage of this. I tried to cancel one order 'cos I felt so paiseh but I received encouragement instead to continue. *grin*
And so, I plod on, thinking and trying, till the coast is clear :-)
Another prototype of sorts. Simple coasters depending solely on the fabric print. I prefer practicality over looks but it's nice when practicality and looks can both be met in these :-)
Pink and white patchwork coaster is reversible with same design on both sides. The ladybug and frog are from the Garden Blessings range, backed by coloured checks. All are interfaced with 7oz sewn-in interfacing.
Have a blessed rainy morning!
Afternote: was playing around with some graphics software and came up with this. Do you prefer this to the pic on top?

Coasting along

These past few weeks after CNY have been rather 'slow' for me. You could tell, ya? I've not been updating this blog as often. I'm clearing backlog though, and this is one fun project for me. :-)
4 round coasters that are reversible with strawberries on one side and hearts on the other. Bright, cheery colours to bring on a smile.
