Suede straps

Made these suede straps on a whim. The suede was meant for braided cuffs but I took some and trimmed it and made into these straps. In the past, the detachable straps I've made were always from the same fabric as the main body. This suede strap is therefore a stark contrast. I like it anyway :-)
All have a swivel hook to attach to any pouch that has a D-ring.

My fingers hurt

I'd forgotten how hard I have to pull when using twine for macrame. Good thing this belt only has square knots at the start and at the end. The body is braided. Phew!

Make your own with 2 D-rings, twine and beads.
Cut 6 strings about twice the actual length you want.
Tie to the D-rings using a lark's head knot.
Tie square knots with 2 strands in the middle so you have 3 at the start. Leave 2 strings at each side and tie 2 square knots. Alternate this for about 5cm then braid.
Braiding ends when desired length is reached and then you have the alternating square knots again.
At this point, I left a stretch of about 5cm of unknotted string. This is so that there won't be bulk at the D-rings when the belt is worn.
Alternate square knots again then add beads. Secure with overhand knots.

Do you like red bean zhang?

I had a red bean zhang craving some time back. The zhang (dumpling) with whole red beans mixed into the rice with meat / mushroom in the middle. It was so bad that my friend (thank you, dear sweet soul!) bought some from Thomson and brought it all the way here for me. All gone in a flash :-) These days, I eat zhang less often. Usually off season so I don't have to pay the inflated price.

Bought this zhang at a bakery. Odd place to buy one but I couldn't decide what to eat and saw this. It's a nonya zhang, ie, it has sweetened minced meat in the middle. Not really nice so I won't tell you where I got it from, LOL!

Made my own fabric version when I got home. Up for swap with anyone who has a red bean zhang!

Have a blessed day :-)

My treat

Made this for myself last night. On a whim again :-) I wanted something small with a wrist strap, for keeping the cash at the KKH bazaar. I'm not a waistpouch person though I might consider a cross-body sling bag the next round. This one has a pocket for Daffy and cards and a zippered compartment for the cash. A flap keeps everything from falling out. I didn't use batting, only light interfacing but it's quite sturdy and can stand on its own. I riveted the strap again. I'm thinking of riveting straps from now. I like that it's a simple design, functional and easy to apply.

Thank you all who dropped by the Little Statement stall at the KKH bazaar today. We had a wonderful time :-)

Have a blessed day!

Spring is coming

DD pounced on this fabric when it arrived yesterday. It's green. There were other green fabrics but I agree with her, this one's special. Along with the labels that also arrived yesterday, I decided to make her yet another pencil case. [Someday I'll do series on DD's pencil case collection].
Made her a matching tissue case too while I was having fun. It's zakka-like, no? I like the simplicity of the labels against the gingham. Spring plants.
Have a blessed day!
